5-Bromo-6-chloro-3-indolyl acetate
5-Bromo-6-chloro-3-indolyl acetate (5BCIA) is a pesticide that belongs to the class of indoxyl. It is stable and reproducible, and can be used as an insecticide in agriculture. 5BCIA has shown an inhibitory effect on esterases, which can be used to control the population of insects such as Drosophila melanogaster. The enzyme inhibition activity of 5BCIA has been shown with homogenates from rat liver and brain, as well as from esterases extracted from rat liver and brain. 5BCIA has also been shown to inhibit the enzymatic hydrolysis of diazinon and carbaryl by esterases.
